The Ventura County Sheriff’s Foundation announces the building of a training facility for the Mounted and K9 units of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office
[Ventura County, CA] - The Ventura County Sheriff’s Foundation is raising funds for the construction of a state-of-the-art training facility for the Mounted and K9 Units of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office (VCSO). These two units play an essential role in both law enforcement as well as search and rescue operations.
Our mounted unit provides crowd control, search and rescue operations and patrol for rural areas while our K9 units are trained to detect drugs, explosives and locate missing persons.
The Foundation recognizes the unyielding dedication of these specialty teams to our community safety. The Mounted Unit provides their own personal horses for their service. Both units require ongoing training and resources to maintain their expertise to serve Ventura County.
The Mounted and K9 Training Facility will include a 12 stall barn, horse arena, classroom, training lawn, sheltered dog washing station and hay storage.
Fundraising efforts are ongoing and include the annual Sheriff’s Foundation BBQ in on October 20, 2023. All details can be found at VCSF.org
The Foundation is successful in rallying the community to support our Sheriff’s Office. The last Foundation initiative was building the highest level of live fire training dedicated to the memory of fallen Sgt. Ron Helus.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Foundation is an independent nonprofit 501C(3) organization with a sole objective to support the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office (VCSO) tax ID #20-3780163. The Foundation seeks to build community partnerships to enhance public safety in Ventura County with the support of individuals, families and businesses.
